How to choose the right jack?
Scissor Jack
The scissor jack for cars is an excellent helper in unexpected situations when you need to change a tire on the road. It’s no surprise that many drivers carry it in the trunk along with other essentials. However, we recommend using it only as an emergency solution, as it’s not ideal for daily use. Operating it requires more physical effort.
Hydraulic Jack
The hydraulic jack operates based on a hydraulic cylinder, pump, and valves, allowing efficient lifting of heavy loads using hydraulic pressure. This type may feature an automatic mechanism or work on the principle of a manual pump.
Hydraulic jacks can be divided into two categories:
Classic jacks on wheels – Thanks to the wheels, they are easy to move, making them ideal for vehicle maintenance and repairs when easy access under the car is needed.
Bottle jacks – These are firmly anchored and designed for stable installation in workshops. They are excellent for support work where stability is essential when lifting heavy objects, such as engine blocks.
Pneumatic (Air) Jack
A pneumatic jack requires either a compressor or allows you to control the hydraulics using a pump. Its construction uses compressed air to lift loads.
Column Jack
Column jacks are primarily found in professional car repair shops and tire services. These jacks lift the car from both sides, allowing the entire vehicle to be lifted at once. An electrohydraulic two-post lift with a crossover, featuring fixed columns and telescopic arms, is commonly used.
Rack Jack
The rack jack has a different design from classic jacks. It consists of a vertical toothed axis, a rotating handle, a lever, and a brake, which gives it specific properties.
Motorcycle Jack
There are several types of motorcycle jacks, each with its specific use:
Simple lever jack – Ideal for smaller motorcycles or cross bikes, operating on a lever principle to lift the entire motorcycle. The motorcycle must have a frame under the engine or a cover that can be lifted.
Front and rear wheel jack – This jack is designed as a “cradle” and allows lifting of the front or rear wheel of the motorcycle. Lifting table – Great for extensive repairs or maintenance, a sturdy device on which the motorcycle rides up and is lifted into the air using a hydraulic or pneumatic system.
Safety and Support Stands
When lifting any heavy loads, it is important to have quality supports with a safety mechanism that ensures a stable position. Thanks to the supports, you can safely move under the vehicle without fear of it falling.
